Superior Walls by Weaver Precast Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions about Superior Walls

What wind speed can your walls handle?
Wind pressure is a function of the entire structure, not just the walls. Your structure will be engineered to withstand the wind pressures in your area. In Florida that ranges from 100 to 150 mph.

Do I need to do anything special for permitting?
We will provide you with several sets of sealed prints for the permitting department in your county. Simply add this to your permitting package.

Is my county familiar with your product?
We have built thousands structures in the state of Florida, so chances are yes. If not, we will support you through the permitting process and provide the county with any information they need.

Aren’t all walls water-tight?
No. Concrete blocks are porous and 1500 psi light density concrete, that’s why most basement up North leak. In Florida, if not well painted, they leak under the pressure of wind driven rain. Concrete becomes impervious to water at a density of 4,000 psi. The EPIC wall is a minimum of 5,000 psi so it is impervious to water and sealed like an aquarium.

Should I point the Epic Walls out to my appraiser?
Yes! The Epic Wall is an upgrade over traditional masonry walls.
They are hurricane resistant, well insulated, water tight, and help resist wildfire.
The Epic Wall is 6 inches thick where furred concrete blocks are 8 3/4 inches so the interior dimensions on the house are 2 3/4 inches larger on every exterior wall. This adds an additional 50 square feet of air conditioned space to the average 2,000 square foot home.

Should I list that I have Superior Walls in a Real Estate Add?
Yes! The Epic Wall is an upgrade over traditional masonry walls. They are hurricane resistant, well insulated, water tight, and help resist wildfire. Plus send us the ad and we will send you $50! One ad paid per house.

Do I need to go through a contractor?
No, but we strongly recommend using either a licensed contractor or owner/builder consulting firm to help you. According to Florida Statutes Chapter 489.103(7) Owners of property when acting as their own contractor can build one or two family residences as long as they occupy them for one year and they are not used for a commercial purpose.

What is your Florida Product ID number?
A Product Id number is not required for our product.
According to the Florida Department of Community Affairs in a letter to us dated October 21, 2004, a product id number is not required “FL#3457 because the product is [reviewed and sealed by a certified structural engineer], it falls outside the scope of Rule 9B-72”. A copy of this letter is available upon request.

My plans are drawn in block. Do I have to have them redone?
No, we will provide you a set of engineer sealed plans of the wall package. You simply add this to the permit package.

Does your foam burn?
The expanded poly-styrene that we use is treated with flame retardant. It will self extinguish as soon as the flame source is removed. This is very different from untreated foam like that of a foam cup which is highly flammable.
