In 1959 Ruth and Gordon Doutrich were planning to get married and they built themselves a home. This was the beginning of Doutrich Homes. Doutrich Homes has since built over 2,500 homes and each has been built with the same care and dedication as that very first home.

Doutrich Homes builds between thirty and forty homes a year. Each home is designed and built with the customer in mind. Doutrich Homes strives to make sure every home fulfills the customers' needs, wants and dreams while staying within budget. This is accomplished by spending as much time as necessary in the planning and design of the home. After the home has been designed to the customers' satisfaction, Doutrich Homes has an experienced staff to guide the customer through the many decisions that make their plans a reality. Each step in the process has been refined over the years to make building a home an enjoyment for the customer.

The quality that distinguishes a Doutrich home is evident from the street, beginning with the architectural details on the exterior and the curved walk leading to the front door. Once inside, the quality continues with Weaver Precast basement walls, the extensive interior trim and the beautiful cabinetry, much of which is custom made by Paradise Custom Kitchens, Inc., a sister company of Doutrich Homes.

Ruth Doutrich serves as CEO of Doutrich Homes, and her son, David, is the president. Ruth and David believe in, and work very hard at, maintaining a good relationship with their employees and subcontractors. So it is not surprising that many of the employees and subcontractors of Doutrich Homes have been with the company for more than twenty years. This experience and dedication assures every Doutrich Home's customer that their home is being built to the highest standards of quality. Ruth is practical and realistic when she talks about her beliefs as a builder. "I believe in building homes without problems. I've built long enough to know I do not want problems so I can hang in there after being at it for forty years."

When awards are passed out, Doutrich Homes always captures its share—one year winning seven blue ribbons for one home entry in the Lancaster County Parade of Homes. While these awards are a great honor, the best awards are the thanks and notes of appreciation from satisfied customers.
